IKEA

Made a trip with Andrew to IKEA (Wembley) today. It was rather an adventure to get there. Like any other IKEAs, their entrance was roughly the same, huge and simple. I guess that's what you call standardization eh?
Browsed through the floors and got each of us some stuff. Before leaving, can't resist but to do the "IKEA thing". Yupz, that is to have their Swedish meatballs and Daim Cake. Love it. Frankly, I would rather pay for these than other sorts of fast food. They taste healthier and of course, tastier.

Anyway, while I was at IKEA, a conversation with a Swedish girl came across my mind. She was saying French have their cheese and wine, Germans have their sausages and the British have their scones and tea. Swedish too, have something that they are proud of, IKEA and meatballs. And by visiting IKEA, it reminds her of home. Its interesting how IKEA becomes an embodiment of Swedish culture and pride. Humans tends to attach intrinsic values onto physical things. Probably in hope that such value will be easily recognized and preserved. I guess its not necessarily a bad thing.

Deep down, IKEA too, means something to me. My previous room and Melbourne.
